Hello!

Spring elections are fast approaching, and I’m excited to introduce myself and share why I’m running for one of the three open seats on the Hudson School Board.

Like many of you, my husband and I chose to settle in Hudson because of the strong reputation of its schools. Our children are currently in 8th and 9th grades, and attended River Crest and Hudson Prairie. We’ve always felt welcome in each school and have loved being a part of this vibrant community!

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering in various ways to support our schools—whether it was chaperoning field trips, helping with holiday parties, or contributing to committees like the Elementary Re-boundary Committee (2018), the Human Growth and Development Committee (2023), and the current Teaching and Learning Committee. I’ve also volunteered for the Hudson Backpack Program (now Operation Help), and currently, I chair the Vibrant Communities Fund at the St. Croix Valley Foundation, which funds local nonprofits addressing mental health needs. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to grant over $100,000 last year to support these efforts.

These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the commitment our community has to the Hudson School District and to each other. I truly believe that when everyone is supported, we all thrive.

I am committed to the success of our District, ensuring it serves all students, staff, and the broader community. Every student deserves to feel accepted and valued, knowing their school community is there to support them. I believe that strong partnerships between schools, parents, and the community are key to fostering success for every child.

Professionally, I have a background in public health and currently work on national programs that help adults and youth stop using tobacco and vaping. Throughout my career, I’ve come to value both data and personal stories, as they are both essential for understanding issues and developing effective solutions. I have a strong grasp of how state and federal policies shape funding and how effective policy-making (the role of the School Board) and implementation (the role of the administration) must work in tandem. My work often involves leading focus groups and community conversations to better understand challenges and identify actionable solutions.

Thank you for visiting my campaign website, and I would be honored to have your vote this spring. Together, we can continue building a supportive and successful school community!

Sincerely,

Maria
